2008 Gun Buy-Back is Successful
On August 23rd, the Will County Crime Stoppers in coordination with other local agencies conducted a gun "buy-back" program at multiple locations throughout Will County. This program was developed to encourage citizens to turn in guns for cash, in an effort to keep them from being used in unlawful activity. Cash is awarded on the spot, with no questions asked.
A total of 317 guns were taken off the streets.
The guns were collected from several municipalities as follows:
Joliet- collected 124 guns,
Manhattan- collected 86 gunsm,
Plainfield- collected 30 guns,
Romeoville- collected 38 guns
